The Alien Hand Syndrome (AHS) is a rare neurological disorder that causes hand movement without the person being aware of what is happening or having control over the action. It may cause people with the case to touch other people and things sporadically and/ or inappropriately. The person feels everything the hand feels; but, for some odd resson, cannot control it. Unable to control the hand, the human being attached to the specimen is just along for the ride. It is described by scientists as a "complex, goal- directed activity in one hand that is not voluntarily initiated." Patients with the condition often refer to their uncontrollable hand as another person; they even give the hand a name. Alien hand syndrome is more often seen in the non- dominant hand and in most cases is the resultant of a brain injury or trauma.
