*Abigail's relationships that she has with certain people makes her act differently. For instance when she is around John proctor she is very flirtatious and gentle but when she is around Betty and Mercy Lewis she is very hostile and even threatens them.
Abigail
Quote
Abigail: "Now look you. All of you. We danced. And Tituba conjured Ruth Putnam’s dead sisters. And that is all. And mark this. Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night "(Arthur Miller, Act 1,pg 41)".
In this quote Abigail is talking Betty and Mercy Lewis about what they did in the forest. Abigail didn't want anyone to know about what happened in the forest that day so she threatened to hurt Betty and Mercy if they told anyone especially Parris.
