Historical Background/Authorship
There is much controversy and debate in regards to who wrote the book of Ecclesiastes. Some do believe that Solomon wrote it because of the wisdom in contains. Solomon was considered the wisest man in the world.
Solomon seems to be the most qualified man to write this book. He had wealth, fame, power, and wisdom.
Solomon experienced life both with and without God. The conclusion that he comes to says that everything under the sun is useless, has no purpose, and no fulfillment without God.
Both Christians and Jews (traditionally) believe that Solomon was the author of Ecclesiastes. A verse in this book leads many to believe this; “The son of David, King in Jersusalem”
We know that Solomon was the son of David.
The way the scriptures were written naturally cause people to believe it was written by Solomon.
We see in chapter 1:12 that the speaker of this book was the king over Israel in Jerusalem. We know historically that Solomon was the ruler during this time.
