The Scramble for Africa was the race to claim Africa under Imperialism to take advantage of their rich resources, such as gold, silver, ivory, and other such natural resources.

The race to colonize Africa lead to tensions because they all wanted to own a large portion of Africa to obtain large masses of resources.
