In this particular grass preparation there are a lot of epidermal cells. Conclusions tell me that this slide portrays the lower epidermis because there is a stoma hidden in all of the other cells. A stoma lets gasses in and out of the leaf. It releases both oxygen and water vapor. It is open when filled with water, and closed when no water is present.
