Lewis and Clark started an expedition to discover Louisiana. They had used the Mississippi River as a highway and slept very little.




When he was released he reported his trip to the U.S. His report gave desciptions of the South West.

Contact with Native Americans

As they went through the Rocky Mountains, they were accompanied by Sacagawea that helped to name and show edible fruits and vegetables. A french trader who guided and translated for them.

Pikes Peak

Zebulon Pike set out to find the beginning of the Red River. The U.S thought it was part of the Louisiana territory. He entered Spainsh territory and was captured as a spy.
