Holden constantly favors children throughout the book. He often thinks of his sister Phoebe and whenever children are presented in the narrative he's always sympathetic towards them. As apposed to this, he is more willing to think or say rude things to people around or above his age. To add to this, some of his behavior shows more immaturity than maturity.
