The maple leaf is the characteristic symbol of a maple tree. Maple leafs will die and fall off on the winter and grow back in the warmer seasons. The maple leaf is also commonly recognized as the national symbol of Canada. This is because of their popularity in Canada.

The epidermis in this picture is not obvious. The upper and lower epidermis is like the bread of a cell, on top and bottom with stuff in between. The leaf stem is clearly visible in this picture. The stem is the thick light lines that divide up the leaf. Palisade cells aren't visible in this picture.
