Buying Louisiana
In 1802 the Spanish owned New Orleans and blocked our access to it.
Was not good for our farmers in the west who needed to export goods.
The Spanish gave Louisiana a large amount of their territory to Napoleon Bonaparte who was driven to conquer the whole world.
When Thomas Jefferson asked to buy New Orleans from him, he offered the rest of Louisiana for 15 million.
