2 Samuel 11

After Uriah finds out what had happened he confronts David in 2 Samuel 11:11, "...how could I go to eat or drink and lie with my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!" After that King David invited him to sleep at the palace one more night, and he intoxicates Uriah. In the morning David wakes up and writes a letter it says "Put Uriah im the front line where the fighting is the fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die." Since David is King that's what they did and in verse 17, "... Uriah the Hittite died.
