Schneider Family Book Award

The Schneider Family book award honors a author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audience.

History: Dr. Katherine Schneider and her family endowed this American Library Association Award in 2003

Criteria: May be fiction, biography, or nonfiction. Must portray emotional, mental, or physical disability as part of a full life. The representation of characters with disabilities should be realistic. And appropriate for age.
