The Sirens

the sirens had a singing contest with the muses induced by hera. the sirens lost and the muses plucked the feathers from their wings as trophies. So they could no longer fly and then the sirens grew a tail as a fish.

they live on an island called Anthemoessa in between Italy and Sicily.
