The solar panels are broken up into three different sections. The first section is the Road Surface Layer and it contains the high strength platform that contains the LEDs, the solar cells, and the heating element.

The second section is the Electronics layer, and contains the microprocessor that uses the energy generated from the solar panels to control the heating element and the lights in the panel to rearrange the lane configurations if needed.

The third layer is the Baseplate layer and it takes the energy that is not used, and sends it to the homes and businesses near the panel. It also sends data such as how the panel is preforming back to the control room and internet to all the people in the area.
