Economics

The Economics Department at Penn has long held a place among the top in the country. Its world-class faculty contribute outstanding research in all areas of economics, with particular strengths in theoretical and empirical microeconomics and in modern macroeconomics.

The vibrant doctoral program is home to 120 students from around the world. On the undergraduate level, Economics has consistently been one of the top majors in the School, with nearly 2,000 students graduating in the past six years.

The program’s alumni—both graduate and undergraduate—are part of an incredibly diverse and dynamic group of individuals working in academia in leading universities, in research in both public and private sectors, and in industry around the world
