"The stigma associated with HIV remains extremely high no fear of discrimination causes some Americans to avoid learning their HIV status , disclosing, their status, or accessing medical care." There is no question that "HIV stigma has been shown to be a barrier to HIV testing" and the CDC has unequivocally asserted that HIV "stigma hampers prevention".

In other words, we are our own worst enemy. those that stigmatize are only feeding the virus and ensuring that it stays alive.
