WHAT IS CLASSICAL CONDITIONING?
Classical conditioning is a learning process, discovered by Pavlov, where a stimulus gains the power to cause a response.
- Unconditioned stimulus (UCS): a stimulus that triggers a response reflexively.
- Unconditioned response (UCR): the automatic or reflexive response to the UCS.
- Conditioned stimulus (CS): previously neutral stimulus that gains power of a response.
- Controlled response (CR): the response to the CS.
