The landowner represents God, his Vineyard is the kingdom of now, the payment that the workers receive represents the kingdom of not yet. The all day to noon workers resemble people that have dedicated most of their lives to their religion. The 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock workers represent people who have just recently found God.
