Example

Molecular compound formed by carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. It is the source of energy for the body and building blocks of other components of the body such as DNA.

Monosaccharides are the simplest carbohydrates and are often called sugar. Glucose, galactose, and fructose are the examples. Disaccharides are combination of two monosaccharides. Lactose, maltose, and sucrose are the examples. Polysaccharides are combination of more than one saccharides. Glycogen, cellulose, and starch are the examoles.
