This book is called "Beautiful Creatures" because Macon Ravenwood refers to mortals as "beautiful creatures." He is jealous of them and truly believes that they are all beautiful. He sees the good in humanity unlike Sarafine, Lena's mother, who sees the bad in humanity and refers to mortals as "disgusting creatures" in the book.
