The steps to making equal pay a law.
Why give support?
Today, there is a 20% gap between the annual median earnings of what a man and what a woman makes for the same amount of work. But it's not that simple. It gets even worse for non-white women. Latinos get about 54¢ to every $1 made by the non-Hispanic white man.
Childbirth is also a big factor in the pay gap. If women were to delay childbirth for 1 year, you could see an "increase a woman’s total career earnings and experience by 9 percent." But men "experience pay increases when increases when they have children." Why is there a difference?
