PEASANTS

Peasants usually worked the land and most of their crops went to the ruling classes.

The rest of their crops were put in storehouses for use in times of need.

Peasants also owed labor service to the Inca state.

Men provided construction services and women made pottery and jewelry.

Using quipu the Inca kept track of labor service.
