Robert Ewell
Question 2
Is your character’s view privileged or not? How do you know?
Bob Ewell is not viewed as a privileged character because of his poor, underprivileged ancestry as well as the fact that he was born in the Ewell family. The Ewell's are known as the 'disgrace of Maycomb for three generations' and he beats his daughter (and possibly even has sexual relations with her). He obviously fails to provide for his children and does not send his children to school, he uses his paychecks to buy alcohol, not to provide for his family. Also threatening to kill Atticus and eventually attempts to stab and kill Atticus's children, Robert Ewell definitely doesn't portray as a privileged character in To Kill A Mockingbird. The attitude and etiquette presented by Bob clearly indicates his disrespect to people of his own community and declares his lack of consideration and appreciation towards others. "Atticus was leaving the post office when Mr. Ewell approached him, cursed him, spat on him, and threatened to kill him"
