Who Is Boesak?

- Born Feburary 23, 1946 in Kakamas South Africa

- Grew up trying to help his mother support their family after his father died when Boesak was 6

- Family was relocated under rule of the apartheid, which led to Boesaks increased irritation with the segregation

- Became a sexton in local (segregated section) Dutch Reformed Church

- Started school at age 17 at the University of Western Cape, studying theology

- Devoted himself to the church and was ordained in the Dutch reformed church in 1968

- 1970-1976 began pursuing his education again, coming back with a PhD in ethics.
