Characteristics of the Trees

-long thin waxy needles : it protects them from the freezing temperatures and from drying out

-they keep their needles all year round so they can start photosynthesis as soon as it gets warm

-they tend to be thin and close together--> protects them from cold and wind

-the cone shape they have protects the branches from breaking when the snow falls

-have thick bark to protect them from wild fires

-dark green helps absorb light from the sun
