Skulls are the main symbol of Day of the Dead to represent the positive side of your passed loved ones lives. The positive side is shown through the various bright colors painted on the skulls.

Ghosts or Pumpkins are the main symbol of Halloween, pumpkins to ward of the evil and ghosts to add to the creepiness of the Halloween spirit.
