Rivers

The Harappan civilization settled around two main rivers, the Indus River and Ganges River.
Early civilizations settle around rivers for many different reasons. These reasons include water to drink, food, animals, cleansing, crops, silt, and resources. The two most important are silt and irrigation. Every year when the rivers floods it brings silt to the crops making the soil more fertilized. Irrigation is possible because they can move it in a way to have healthy crops away from the river.
