1. Odilin Redon was born in Bordeaux in 1840.

2. Loved art and music as a boy and went to study under Gerome to Paris.

3. Had difficulty and struggled to “render form”.

4. Not that he did’nt wanted to learn, but he had a fondness of learning in his own way, a kind of spiritual independence.

5. Went to war in 1870 which clarified his ideas and themes that were stirring within him.

6. He was profoundly devoted to Leonardo Di Vinci, Rembrandt, and Durer. Amongst the modern he preferred Euguene Delacroix. Musically he was all for the noble master, Beethoven and Bach.

7. His paintings lacked forms and leaned more towards the romanticism side. He had visions, creativeness and sustained imagination but the paintings were more or else formless and thus Redon never soared to the companionship of his beloved Leonardo and Rembrandt.
