Physical Effects

Thirteen counties in three states were affected, Illinois Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, White and Williamson, Indiana Gibson, Pike and Posey, Missouri Bollinger, Iron, Madison, Perry and Reynolds.

Overall:

· 15,000 homes were severely damaged or destroyed

· 9 schools were destroyed

· The tornado destroyed four towns and wrecked more than 50% of six other towns

· Schools, farming communities (85 farms), mining cottages and pretty much anything else in the tornados way was damaged
