Many people have not heard of this piece of information. Surprisingly, the O' Leary's shared a house with a family called the Laughlin's. On October 8th, the night of the fire, the Laughlin's had a party with several guests. Mrs. O' Leary heard that someone went to the barn to milk the cow for oysters or coffee. Mrs. Laughlin said that they did not have oysters nor coffee that night. People believe that someone may have put a lantern in the barn at that time, so they believe the fire stated because of a misplaced lantern.
