The Foundation also supports the friends and families of the lost ones. They set aside a weekend to honor the lost heroes from that past year. Since 1996, the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation has supported immediate family and friends of the fallen firefighters with needs during the memorial weekend. This gives families to engage in fun activities, and sessions with experienced grief counselors.
