Plot with conflict: Peyton wants to escape execution, and daydreams of him doing so.
Characters: Peyton is a southern farmer. And wants to keep his slaves so war breaks out, however he doesn't participate in the war, he wants the "Glory for cheap"
Theme: Consequences for ones actions. If he had just participated in the war. He would have gotten the same glory.
