NATIONALITY

In India, we celebrate many different holidays. Below are some of them…

Diwali- Diwali is the Festival of Lights. It celebrates the victory of good over evil. To celebrate Diwali, light candles, set fireworks, or feast with sweets. For 2016, Diwali is October 30th.

Holi- Holi is the Festival of Colors. It’s also the celebration of Spring, which is why it is celebrated in Spring. It is showing the love between two of our gods, Krishna and Radha. To celebrate it, we throw colors at each other. The colors are just powder. Next year, 2017, Holi is on Monday, March 13th.

Raksha Bandhan- Raksha Bandhan is The Bond of Protection. It celebrates brotherhood and love. To celebrate Raksha Bandhan, a sister ties a rake to the brother and the brothers wear it on his wrist. A rakhi is a thin cotton bracelet. Next year, 2017, Raksha Bandan is on August 7th.
