- There are 3 types of HEI (adaptation, modification, or dependency)

- The Three Gorges Dam is an example of modification

- Adaptation = humans changing ways of living to survive

- Modification = humans changing environment to survive

- Dependency = humans interacting with the environment but not changing it

- This is because humans have put a man made dam in the river to create energy for themselves
