What is at stake ?

Ocean acidification is threatening everything in the Ocean.

Many shellfish will be in trouble since they use carbonate Ions to create their shells but ocean acidification decrease the availability of carbonate in the ocean.

Many organism metabolism will be affected. Some Sea life will generally adapt to Ph change but it will cost them more energy,So adults could be fine but larvae,fish eggs and young don't have any extra available energy to adapt to the change which will gravely put many species at risk and could mess up the food chain affecting us.Some neurological problems have been found on some species as well.

Ocean acidification makes it harder for organisms to absorb elements (nitrogen,iron,phosphorus) that are needed for growth.

Coral will also majorly be affected by this change in ph, coral takes hundred of years to grow and the ocean acidification ph does not let coral absorb enough calcium carbonate they need to maintain their skeleton

So in general this problem will put many species at risk which could affect us or people who depend only on the sea. A small change on the food chain could have a devastating effect on us.
