The discovery
Radon was discovered in 1900 by Friedrich Ernst Dorn, who called in niton. It has been called radon since 1923, before which it was called niton. The place of discovery was in Halle, Germany in 1900. The origin of the name was named after the element radium. But it was first named niton and the Latin word is "Intens" meaning shining.
