Functions

There are three functions of the respiratory system.

1. Inhaling: Takes oxygen into the body.

2. Exhaling: Releasing carbon dioxide from the body.

3. Speaking: air released from the lungs go to the pharynx (throat) and moves to the larynx (voice box) where the sound vibrates in the voice box to form words.
