California also has flat land to have farms and ranches. These flat land are optimal for cattle and crops among other things.

California has a wide range of temps. In the north you may get a strong winter and in the south a hot summer. With these varying climates there are so many opportunities.

California has the  massive Rocky Mountains in the east. On those mountains are fresh water springs to harness and ice and snow to harvest.
