Patroon System

The Dutch West India Company had a plan.Their plan was to get more people to settle in New Netherland.They promised a large amount of land to any one who brought fifty settlers to the colony.The patroon was the person who owned the land.The fifty settlers had to give the patroon part of their crops and livestock as a form of rent.
