What is a zoologist? A zoologist is a life scientist who studies animals through observation in either their natural habitat or in a controlled setting. They study animal development, behavior and interaction. They may also research diseases pertaining to animals. (About Science.org)
Zoology is a full time job with irregular hours in the field. An entry level job in Zoology requires a Bachelor's degree, but a Master's degree is needed for advancement and a Ph. Job settings for zoology can vary. Some zoologist work in labs either studying lab animals or doing research on blood and tissue samples to develops better care for them and to find cures and control for diseases. Other zoologist study and research animals in a controlled setting such as a zoo. They care for animals and study them in a mock setting, Still others pioneer and research animals in their natural habitats. I would enjoy a career a a zoologist very much. Not only do I enjoy working with animals, but I also think it is important to preserve many beautiful species that are going extinct. I also think it is important for humans to understand animals and strive to make the most of us inhabiting this world in harmony. In West Virginia the starting salary for a zoologist is $57710.00, which is a good beginning for a career.
