Middle Class

-Egypt had a significant middle class with considerable house size.

-Gender and marital status, not rank, determined where inside the house one slept.

-Husbands did not interfere in household matters and trusted their wives to do the job.

-Women were expected to supervise the house and see that everything was done properly.
