Dutch colonials were first popular in the 1700's in Europe. They became popular in Northeastern America in the early 1900's when Dutch Colonists settled in New York and New Jersey. They are popular because they are considered one story making taxes cheaper. They are also popular because of the space they provide with the almost full second story without the cost of second story construction.
