Catherine was a very bright child, which is why she was very good at her studies.

There is not much on her childhood aside from the fact that she invested herself into studies at a very young age.

Faith:

When Catherine was a young girl, she was not religious in any way. But one night, she received a vision of the Madonna and Child that impacted her life immensely because it persuaded her to convert to the Christian Faith.
