How listening to music has changed:
♩Phonograph: First device that could record and reproduce sound. The phonograph was created by Thomas Edison.
♩Gramophone: The gramophones created by E. Berliner. This invention was a similar way to record sound using disk played on the gramophone. The gramophone was invented in 1888 it was very popular during that time. There were made for all music.
♩Vinyl Record: The vinyl record was invented by Peter Goldmark in 1948. It is made of polyvinyl chloride and was played on a gramophone. It dominated music in the 1980s.
♩Radio: The first radio was invented by Reginald Fessenden in 1906. This device played music through radio signals. Today there are over 44,000 radio stations.
♩CDs: The CD was invented in 1970 by James Russell. CD stands for compact disc. It uses digital optical disc data storage format and holds 80 minutes of music.
♩Digital Downloads: Many devices such as the IPhone can download music for the user to listen to. This music is downloaded through the ITunes Store. Unfortunately, digital downloads have lowered CD sales.
