A phobia starts when a person begins organizing their lives around avoiding the object of their fear

Some phobias are caused in childhood like something the phobic person very rarely comes into contact with, such as a snake.

Other phobias are impossible to avoid. But can still be treated.

Caused in child hood:Arachnephobia- Fear of spiders

Impossible to avoid:agoraphobia- fear of leaving home or public places
