•Himmler joined the Nazi Party (NSDAP) in August 1923; his Party number was 14,303.

•Himmler's first leadership position in the SS was that of SS-Gauführer (district leader) in Lower Bavaria from 1926.

•Hitler appointed him Deputy Reichsführer-SS, with the rank of SS-Oberführer.
