The creation of biomass electricity can actually reduce the amount of trash in landfills by taking some out to be burned. This helps the environment because the size of landfills will be smaller. Also, biomass energy is a part of the "carbon cycle" and therefore doesn't emit any carbon dioxide that the earth cannot handle.
