In 1980, Dalí was forced to retire painting due to a motor disorder. He was no longer able to hold a paintbrush.
A few years later in 1982 his wife, Gala, died. This sent him into a deep depression.
Later, Dalí was severely burned in his castle where he lived and died in 1984 from heart failure.
