Jonathan Edwards- Minister of Yale, refused to convert to the England church. He believed that people were beginning to focus more on wealth then on religion. He believed humans couldn't perfect them selves. He said that people's attendance in church wasn't enough for salvation or god.

The Great Awakening

Church was in decline in the 1700s, when puritans lost hold of everything.

The great awakening brought together Native Americans , and African Americans, together into Christian churches.

Puritan or Anglican congregations were abandoned by colonist.
