Biography
Kazimir Malevich was born in Kiev, Russia. He was the first of fourteen children, although only nine survived into adulthood.
His father died in 1904 and he moved to Moscow to study at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture.
After a successful career, he suddenly shifted his work to Cubism and then Suprematism, using shapes to define the image. It has been said that his love of aviation and Ariel photography led to his work in abstraction.
