CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the potato hardened, just as I thought it would, but I didn’t expect it to still be that soft. I thought the potato would harden much more, but it still stayed somewhat squishy and flexible. A pattern I noticed is that the salt had hardened everyone’s potato and in ancient Egypt had hardened the body. I also didn’t expect the potato to develop brown and black spots in certain areas as it did overtime. Changing it’s appearance from the first day. I think the reason why it developed these brown and black spots is because the potato started to rot overtime, the salt just sped up the process. To me the reason why the potato hardened was because the salt soaked into the potato and caused it to harden up. Not just that but I didn’t expect the potato to lose weight, this could be because the salt soaked up the particles and made it less dense. I think the salt contributed a lot in making those changes to the potato which I had predicted in my hypothesis, I just didn’t think it would do that much change. I think it’s very interesting as to the Egyptians using this method in their lives to preserve bodies so that they could be taken to the afterlife, whereas we are using this method to learn more about their lives. Instead of as a ritual, in the way Egyptians had used it. We’re taking something from their culture and using it to learn more about what happened when they did it.
